weckl revisited

i know, andy!

he was a HUGE influence on me. in fact, his video had me up til like 3 in the morning at times. it was one of those things where i felt some secret had been revealed. nothing before that was so comprehensive.

i went through a pile of old drumming vids last night, and popped in the first weckl instructional video that he worked on "back to basics".

after having a good laugh from thinking about the mullet to the z-cavaricci pants to the cut off t-shirts, etc.

i was just as amazed at the way he played and interpreted these old sequenced tracks, today as i was like over 10 years ago. just reminded me again just how special a player weckl is. so tasteful, musical, fluid & passionate.

sometimes we tend to take for granted what we have in our own backyard. kinda like living close to disneyland or something. [img]smile.gif[/img]

(oh - and believe me, i tried to grow the same mullet, wear the same clothes and buy the same exact kit that he had! my wife couldn't stop laughing when i told her. )

Hey Chuch,

I did the same thing recently. Then it hit me...man, this guy had a significant influence on my approach to the instrument. It's come in subtle ways but the influence is definitely there. I didnt try to grow the mullet, but I did run out and buy a remote hi-hat after seeing that video for the first time over a decade ago.
